There is a park to the rear of East Beach Cafe called East Beach Car Park.

Most small independent businesses are on Instagram. Fewer are on TikTok. Almost none are using either platform in a way that actually creates revenue rather than just followers. The reason is usually not talent or content. It is clarity about what to say, confidence to say it and a method for turning attention into income.

Ben Walton is the Founder of On a Plate Growth Agency, a Brighton-based growth marketing agency focused on food, drink and hospitality brands. He is also the co-founder of Bloody Bens and Best Before, a hospitality events concept that has built a genuine following and buzz in Brighton and beyond. Ben writes about building a business in public on his Substack and Instagram, documenting the real work of growth in real time rather than presenting a polished version of success after the fact. His clients describe him as a shadow founder - someone who gets in alongside you and helps you build and implement immediately.

This session is for small independent business owners who want to understand how to use Instagram and TikTok not just for visibility but for genuine revenue. Ben will cover:

Being bold and building in public: What it means to share your business openly, why it builds trust faster than any advertising and how to do it in a way that feels authentic rather than exposing.

Creating revenue streams through Instagram and TikTok: The difference between content that gets likes and content that generates bookings, sales and enquiries, and the specific approaches that work for small independent businesses in the food, drink, hospitality and creative sectors.

The practical framework: How to decide what to post, how often, on which platform and what the next right step is for your specific business, without needing a marketing team or a large budget.

Ben does not teach theory. He does the work alongside you. This session will give you a practical taster of exactly that approach, with specific actions to take away and implement straight away.
